Naftemporiki’s 3rd Economic Conference “Shaping Greece’s Productive Future”
At Tsamichas Law Firm, we were pleased to attend the 3rd Economic Conference of Naftemporiki, titled “Productive Greece in the Next Decade,” which took place on October 23, 2024, at the historic Zappeion Megaron. This esteemed event brought together prominent voices from government, the European Central Bank, the European Commission, and leaders from Greece’s business and industry sectors to discuss Greece’s path to a resilient, innovative, and forward-thinking economy.
The conference agenda delved into the critical challenges of the Greek business landscape, identifying and exploring:
•Key Business Challenges: Insights into the structural and economic obstacles that businesses must navigate to remain competitive and resilient.
•Development Financing Tools: Discussions on the financial frameworks and tools available to support sustainable business growth and innovation.
•National Energy and Climate Plan: Presentation of Greece’s strategy for energy transition and environmental sustainability, which will play a central role in the country’s future development.
•Greek Tourism as an Economic Driver: Analysis of the tourism sector’s enduring role as a core engine of Greece’s economy and its potential for further growth and modernization.
•Major Infrastructure Projects: Overview of upcoming projects aimed at positioning Greece as a pivotal transit and logistics hub in Southeast Europe.
The conference opened with impactful remarks from high-ranking officials, including Yiannis Stournaras, Governor of the Bank of Greece; Margaritis Schinas, Vice President of the European Commission; Takis Theodorikakos, Minister of Development; and Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of Digital Governance. The keynote speaker, Martin Bijsterbosch, Head of Mission for Greece at the European Central Bank, shared his insights on the economic landscape and growth outlook. Another highlight was the address by Theodoros Tryfon, Co-CEO of ELPEN and President of the Panhellenic Union of the Pharmaceutical Industry, who emphasized the strategic role of the Greek pharmaceutical industry in the decade ahead.
